Owner & CEO

In 2014, Michael Kuzy joined his brother and sister-in-law’s Storm Guard franchise, relocating from New Jersey to Raleigh with his wife, Laura. After a decade of growth, he and Laura, along with new partners, acquired the business in January 2025. Now CEO of Storm Guard of Durham Chapel Hill, Michael brings over 35 years of experience in restaurants and franchising, including 14 years as a business owner. His leadership is people-first, results-driven, and rooted in doing the right thing. A proud father and grandfather, Michael enjoys cooking, traveling, and working alongside his daughter Rachael, who has been part of the business since 2015.

In 2014, Laura Kuzy and her husband, Michael, relocated from New Jersey to Raleigh after he joined a Storm Guard franchise. In January 2025, they acquired the business with new partners and now lead Storm Guard of Durham Chapel Hill. Laura plays a key role in process development, HR, and customer service, bringing over 35 years of experience in customer-focused industries, including 20 years in healthcare. Known for her passion for helping others, she is a proud mother and Nana to five grandchildren. Laura is dedicated to building strong relationships, supporting her team, and strengthening the community she now calls home.

Rachael Branchini is an integral part of the Storm Guard of Durham Chapel Hill family. Helping homeowners navigate the often-confusing process of getting their roofs replaced through insurance as well as retail and making it feel easy. She’s been recognized for her hard work and dedication with multiple awards, including the Key Contributor Award (2017–2022) and National Sales Leader (2021–2023), where she’s surpassed over $2 million in sales each year and Office Administrator of the Year (2025). Originally from South Jersey, Rachael now calls Durham home, where she lives with her husband, two kids, and their lovable (and huge) Boxer, Gronk. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, traveling, and exploring local food scenes. Family is at the heart of everything Rachael does, both personally and professionally. She takes immense pride in working alongside her brother-in-law James as well as her parents, who own the local franchise.

James has been with Storm Guard of Durham Chapel Hill since 2020, bringing a people-first approach to every homeowner he serves. Originally from Massachusetts, he moved to North Carolina 12 years ago and has built strong roots in the community. As a trusted roofing expert, James helps guide homeowners through roof evaluations and replacements with clear communication and a focus on trust and transparency. Known for his integrity and attention to detail, he builds lasting relationships with both homeowners and insurance adjusters to ensure smooth projects. Outside of work, he is a proud father who stays active supporting his daughter’s sports, reflecting his strong commitment to family and community.

Chris Vazquez

Production Supervisor

Born and raised under the Miami sun, Christian brings both energy and expertise to every project he leads. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 2012 to 2017 before finding his calling in roofing, where he has built over 11 years of experience. In 2022, Christian and his family made North Carolina home, and in 2024 he joined the Storm Guard team, quickly becoming a key part of production operations. As a proud father of six, he understands teamwork, patience, and how to keep projects on track. Fluent in both English and Spanish, Christian connects easily with customers and crews, ensuring clear communication and smooth execution. His military discipline, roofing expertise, and strong personality make him a valuable asset to Storm Guard and the families we serve across Chapel Hill, Durham, and the surrounding areas.
